Strawberry watermelon refresher, aka strawberry watermelon juice, is refreshing and delicious. I could not allow summer to pass by without making at least 1 watermelon drink, and this watermelon strawberry refresher is simply delicious.

However, in typical food and mood creations style, let’s discuss the health benefits of the star ingredients before getting to the amazing watermelon strawberry refresher recipe.

Are Strawberries And Watermelon Good For You

Strawberries and watermelon are nutritional superstars. Strawberries are probably one of the most eaten fruits across the globe.

Strawberries contain rich levels of phytochemicals, vitamins, polyphenols, and antioxidants. Furthermore, consuming strawberries is associated with preventing cancer and heart disease.

Eating strawberries may also protect against neuronal damage related to neuronal damage in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, strawberries may also increase insulin sensitivity and help you maintain a healthy immune system.

In contrast, watermelon is a rich source of phytochemicals, including lycopene, vitamin C, β-carotene, and polyphenols. These phytochemicals allow watermelon to have anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects.

Antioxidants are particularly important as they prevent free radicals and reactive oxygen species from being formed. This decreases the risk of developing diabetes, certain cardiovascular diseases, cancer, hypertension, and age-related diseases. Additionally, watermelon can also be used to treat obesity, diabetes, and ulcers.

What Has More Carbs Strawberries Or Watermelon

One cup of watermelon has 46 calories, 11.4 grams of which are carbs. In contrast, ironically, 1 cup of whole strawberries has the same amount of calories as watermelon.

The only difference is that strawberries have 11.1 grams of carbs. Nevertheless, strawberries have 8.2 grams of net carbs, and watermelon has 10.8 net carbs. Therefore, strawberries have fewer carbs than watermelon.

Is Watermelon High In Sugar

Since watermelon is naturally sweet, most people assume it’s full of sugar. However, watermelon is low in sugar.

One cup of diced watermelon only contains 9.3 grams of sugar. That’s less than 10 grams of sugar, so watermelon is the perfect fruit to eat if you are craving something sweet.

Tips For Making Watermelon Strawberry Refresher

  • Use seedless watermelon. If you use watermelon that has seeds., you will have to strain the watermelon strawberry mixture in a fine-mesh sieve.
  • If the watermelon or strawberries are not sweet enough, add your preferred choice of sugar-free sweetener. I used Swerve, but you can use Stevia, honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar.
  • I used 2 cups of sugar-free sweetener, but you may need more or less depending on your taste. Additionally, adding the sugar-free sweetener 1/2 cup to 1 cup at a time is best. This way, the watermelon strawberry juice will not be too sweet or not sweet enough.
  • I used frozen strawberries. However, you can use fresh strawberries if desired.
  • I used fresh lime juice, but bottled lime juice or lemon juice works quite well in this refresher.
  • Chop the watermelon in advance and store it in the fridge. Since the watermelon will already be cold when you make the juice, you won’t have to serve it over ice.
  • If you want the refresher to have a slushier texture, add ice cubes to the blender along with the remaining ingredients.
  • The watermelon strawberry refresher will separate as it sits in the fridge. Simply stir the refresher before serving it.
  • If you want a watermelon strawberry refresher without the pulp, pour it into a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl. Using the back of the spoon or plastic spatula, push the mixture through the sieve. Next, pour the watermelon strawberry juice mixture into a pitcher and chill it in the fridge or serve it.

How To Make Watermelon Strawberry Refresher Without A Blender

You do not need a blender to make this watermelon strawberry refresher. You can also make it in a food processor.

Alternatively, you can also make it by hand. Simply place the watermelon, strawberries, and lime juice into a pitcher. Mash the fruit using a muddler or wooden spoon until they release their juices.

Add the water and sugar-free sweetener and stir until it dissolves. Next, serve the juice, and you’ve got a watermelon strawberry refresher.

Using this method to make the watermelon strawberry refresher gives you a rustic juice with chunks of strawberries and watermelon running throughout it. However, if you prefer a watermelon strawberry refresher with a smooth texture, strain it before serving it.

How To Store Watermelon Strawberry Refresher

This watermelon strawberry refresher is fresh. So, it does not contain additives that make it last longer.

It’s best to consume the watermelon strawberry refresher on the day it was made. However, it will last 2-3 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container. Keep in mind that the longer the watermelon strawberry refresher sits, the more nutrients it will lose.
