Welcome to Food and Mood Creations

Hi, I’m Sarah Leadon. I’m a food blogger, author, and full-time cook. I love creating and sharing practical recipes that anyone can make and enjoy.

Food has always been an essential part of my life. I come from a long line of cooks, and I’ve spent the past 11 years working in professional kitchens. I started blogging in 2021.

Food and Mood Creations was born from the belief that food affects how we feel. Over time, it’s grown into a space where I share comfort food, freezer-friendly meals, and mood-boosting recipes.

My recipes are made for people like me who spend long hours on their feet. Every recipe on my blog is tested several times before it’s shared, so you can trust that it’s reliable, easy to make, and delicious.

My Roots

I’m from Eleuthera, a beautiful island in The Bahamas, where food is about more than eating a meal. It’s about celebration, connection, and community.

My grandfather was a brilliant cook, and my grandmother was a gifted baker. People rarely left our home empty-handed (that’s what I call true island hospitality). I’ll never forget the joy on people’s faces when they tasted my grandmother’s coconut tart or benny cake.

Moments like these inspired me to attend culinary school, where I learned to appreciate food from many cultures while staying rooted in my Bahamian heritage. My grandparents’ legacy lives on in every recipe I create today.

My Background

My background is filled with ups and downs, but every experience has shaped me into the creator I am today.

From working as a cook in busy kitchens to developing recipes, ghostwriting cookbooks, writing blog posts, photographing dishes, and filming videos (I’ve worn many hats). Each role has uniquely equipped me to share delicious, reliable recipes that feel like home.

I attended culinary school at 17 (technically 16 — I turned 17 during my first week!), where I expanded my skills beyond Bahamian cooking.

I’ve worked in a vegan restaurant, a private island resort, and a hotel kitchen. I learned to cook (under pressure) for people from all walks of life.

Later, I decided to return to college, where I double majored in Psychology and Communication Studies. That’s where the idea for Food and Mood Creations began to take shape.

During the pandemic, I began freelancing as a recipe developer and food writer, which activated my creative side. For the first time, I could create on my own terms. I could write, develop, photograph, and film recipes that spoke to me (this is the freedom every cook secretly craves).

Today, I work as a cook at a hospice and retirement home. My jobs have reminded me that cooking is never just about feeding the body. It’s about feeding the soul.

How Food And Mood Creations Came To Life

The idea for Food and Mood Creations actually started as a scholarship proposal. I was encouraged to apply for a unique scholarship that didn’t require an essay. I had to develop a community-based project that would serve the community after I graduated.

After brainstorming with my mentor, I developed a proposal for a nutritional workshop called Food and Mood. The workshop was designed to help people understand how specific foods can boost mood and energy.

When I found out I didn’t receive the scholarship, I was disappointed. But I wasn’t ready to let the idea go. I believed in it too much. So instead of licking my wounds, I turned it into something bigger. That’s how Food and Mood Creations was born.

This blog is about creating a sacred space where food is more than fuel. It’s community, connection, and joy.

Food connects us all. It's not just a meal. It's an experience that influences how we feel inside and out. It has the power to bring people together, tell stories, and make the most ordinary day feel special.
