People almost always think of pumpkins when the think of fall. However, nothing compare to the flavor of vanilla chai spice mix.

Chai vanilla spice is the perfect reminder of the deliciousness of fall flavors. This chai spice mix is the perfect way to add more flavor to your favorite baked goods.

What Is Chai Spice Mix Made Of

Chai is a milk-based black tea. It gets its flavor from warm spices like cinnamon and cardamom.

Everybody’s chai spice mix is a little different. For example, my chai spice mix contains vanilla bean powder. Some chai spice mixes may contain black pepper, coriander, and fennel.

However, the standard ingredients include:

  • Cardamom
  • Cinnamon
  • Star Anise
  • Nutmeg
  • Cloves
  • Ginger

Is Chai Mix Good For You

Yes, chai mix is good for you. It consists of spices that have a lot of health benefits.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon can enhance cognition and reduce blood pressure. It can also reduce inflammation and help manage glucose levels in persons with diabetes.

Cinnamon can decrease the number of triglycerides in the blood. Too many triglycerides increase the risk of atherosclerosis or other heart diseases. Additionally, cinnamon may also help treat cancer and inhibit the growth of tumors.

Cardamom

Cardamom is beneficial for oral health. Chewing on cardamom seeds can reduce bad breath. Cardamom can also be used to treat tooth and gum decay or disease. It helps alleviate sore throat and a hoarse voice.

Ginger also has therapeutic effects. It may decrease or slow the progression of diseases such as arthritis, obesity, and diabetes.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg has many health benefits, such as decreasing the concentration of lipids in blood serum. It can also prevent thrombosis and reduce platelet aggregation.

Nutmeg also has antifungal properties and can prevent dysentery and reduce inflammation.

Nutmeg can also treat rheumatism, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Nutmeg can enhance cognitive function, prevent leukemia, and boost blood circulation.

It can also detoxify the body, soothe oral infections, increase immune system functioning and decrease insomnia.

Tips For Making Vanilla Chai Spice

Make sure you use fresh spices. Although some people believe spices last forever, they don’t.

You do not want to make chai spice with old spices. It will not be as flavorful as if it were made with fresh spices. So check the expiration date to ensure your spices are still fresh.

This is your chai spice mix. The recipe below is a basic guideline. You can add more or less of a specific type of spice.

For example, you can add less cardamom if you don’t like cardamom. You can add more cinnamon in place of the cardamom.

You can add a dash of black pepper or coriander. You can add a split vanilla bean to the chai mix once you’ve placed it in the storage container. The vanilla bean will give the chai spice mix a delicious vanilla flavor.

Again this recipe is a basic guideline, so you can customize it to your liking.

Store your chai spice mix in airtight containers. Spices can be expensive. Cardamom is not available in my area, so I had to get it online, which is very expensive.

Therefore you need to ensure you get your money’s worth by keeping the chai spice mix fresh for as long as possible.

How To Use Vanilla Chai Spice Mix

Chai spice mix is extremely versatile. You can make chai tea, apple butter muffins, or a latte. You can also use it in cookies, quick bread, scones, and so much more!
