Hazelnut zucchini apple cake is an easy, quick, and tasty gluten-free cake. Best of all, this cake features a special ingredient: hazelnut flour. This hazelnut zucchini apple cake is moist, delicious, and simply addicting.

What Does Zucchini Do For Your Body

Zucchini is one of the lowest-calorie vegetables on the planet since it consists of 96.5% water. A cup of zucchini has 18 calories and 3.8 grams of carbs.

Vitamin C can prevent scurvy and functions as an antioxidant. Mucilage softens food and makes it easier to digest.

Zucchini has high levels of magnesium and phosphorus.  These compounds are needed to create and maintain healthy bones.

Zucchini can prevent bruising due to a vitamin C deficiency. It can also help treat asthma.

What Are The Benefits Of Eating Apples

Like zucchini, apples consist primarily of water and carbohydrates. Apples contain 85% of water and 14% of carbs. Apples contain many beneficial compounds, including vitamins C and E, minerals, and polyphenols. Other beneficial compounds include:

  • Pectin: Pectin can decrease cholesterol. It can also slow the rate of digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. These interactions prevent your blood sugar from spiking after eating food.
  • Oxidative Damage: Consuming apples can undo oxidative damage in nerve cells. Apples can reduce the risk of getting diabetes.
  • Polyphenols: Polyphenols can protect against type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
  • Vitamin E: Vitamin E is a popular antioxidant that may help to treat inflammatory diseases
  • Other Benefits: Apples can also prevent constipation and fight depression. They can help manage obesity and boost oral health.

Tips For Making The Best Hazelnut Zucchini Apple Cake

Use a springform pan. If you use a regular cake pan, it will be harder to remove the hazelnut zucchini apple cake from the pan. Removing the hazelnut zucchini apple cake from a springform pan is much easier.

Spray your spring form with a non-stick cooking spray pan generously. Gluten-free cakes can stick to the pan, so spray it well and line it with parchment paper. Additionally, spray the parchment paper with non-stick cooking spray. The non-stick cooking ensures the cake does not stick to the pan.

Gently press most of the moisture out of the zucchini. The goal is to remove some water from the zucchini but not all the moisture. The zucchini adds moisture to the cake, so if you remove all the moisture, the cake will be dry and crumbly.

I used a cheesecloth to press the excess moisture out of the zucchini. However, you can use a clean kitchen towel.

If the hazelnut zucchini apple cake gets too brown, loosely cover it with foil. The foil prevents the cake’s exterior from browning too much while the interior cooks.

Do You Take The Seeds Out Of Zucchini When Making Cake

It depends on whether you use a small, medium, or large zucchini. If you use a large zucchini for the cake, it’s best to remove the seeds using a spoon. However, if you use a medium or small zucchini, you do not need to remove the seeds.

Why Is My Zucchini Cake Dry

Zucchini contains a lot of water. This water adds moisture to the cake and gives it a tender crumb. If you squeeze all of the water out of the zucchini, it will make the cake dry.

Should Zucchini Be Drained Before Baking

Whether you should drain the zucchini depends on the recipe. For example, there is no need to drain zucchini for zucchini squash bread. However, you should drain zucchini for hazelnut zucchini apple cake.

For most baking recipes, there’s no need to drain the zucchini since it adds moisture to baked goods. If you make a savory recipe like zucchini fritters, you may have to drain the moisture from the zucchini.

Are Gala Apples Good For Cake

Yes, Gala apples are good for cake. However, it’s best to use a mixture of apples since it adds several textures and flavors to your cake.

For example, gala apples have a sweet flavor. Combined with tart Granny Smith apples, it creates a sweet yet tart taste. This combination will take the cake’s flavor to the next level.
