Keto chocolate protein waffles are the best waffles you will ever taste. Not only are they delicious, but they do not stick to the waffle iron like most keto waffles do.

I purchased a waffle iron for Christmas. Yes, I am aware that Christmas was 6 months ago. The life of a college student does not leave a lot of time for writing and editing content.

Nevertheless, since I couldn’t help myself so I used my new waffle iron as soon as I got my hands on it. I was craving something chocolatey, so I decided why not make chocolate waffles. Of course, I had to make these chocolate waffles healthy so I made them with almond flour and cacao powder, and they were absolutely amazing. But before we get to the recipe, let’s discuss the health benefits of cacao powder.

Health Benefits Of Cacao

Although cacao is often compared to cocoa, it is not the same thing. Cacao is the unprocessed raw version of cocoa that can be used to create chocolate products such as cocoa powder. Nevertheless, cacao powder is loaded with beneficial nutrients. One of these potential nutrients includes polyphenols which have antioxidant effects.

In addition to this, cacao may also positively impact serotonin levels, which could have an anti-depressant effect. Cacao may also inhibit obesity-dependent insulin resistance as well as prevent platelet aggregation. Furthermore, consuming cacao powder may decrease the risk of mortality associated with cardiovascular disease.

Health Benefits Of Almonds

Almonds are super popular and will probably remain popular for many years to come. Not only are they a good snack, but they can also be ground into almond flour and used to make baked goods. In addition to this, almonds are extremely healthy. Almonds contain beneficial compounds such as lipids, dietary fiber, folate, and protein.

They also contain a substantial amount of vitamins, particularly vitamin E and vitamin B2. Vitamin E protects cellular and intra-cellular membranes from being damaged. In contrast, vitamin B2 or riboflavin can have a protective effect on illnesses such as ischemia or sepsis and can reduce the risks of developing certain forms of cancer. Minerals play an integral managing cardiovascular function. Almonds have a wide range of minerals, including manganese, phosphorous, potassium, copper, magnesium, and calcium, copper, phosphorus.

How Many Carbs Are In A Chocolate Waffle?

Each keto chocolate protein waffles contain 25.8 carbs. Before you start panicking about the high carb count, this figure does not include the net carbs. There are 13.9 grams of fiber in these waffles. The human body does not contain the necessary enzymes to digest fiber, so it literally passes right through you. Therefore, if we subtract the fiber from the total carb count, each waffle contains 12 net carbs.

How To Store Keto Chocolate Protein Waffles

I love making recipes that can be made in advance. You can make large portions of them, freeze them and pull them out anytime you are in the mood for a certain food. These keto chocolate protein waffles are no different. You can make them in advance, freeze them, and reheat them for a quick and easy breakfast.

Simply, place the waffles into an airtight container. Place a parchment paper square between each waffle to prevent them from sticking to each other. Cover the waffles and place them into the freezer for 2 months. You can also store the waffles in the fridge in an airtight container for 3 days.

How To Reheat Keto Chocolate Protein Waffles

If you are reheating frozen waffles, allow them to sit on your countertop for 30 minutes. Place the waffles into your toaster and toast them until they are hot and crispy.

Alternatively, you can also reheat the waffles in a frying pan. Simply coat a frying pan with non-stick spray, add the waffles and cook them for 2-3 minutes over medium-high heat until they are hot and slightly crisp.
