Cream cheese glaze makes so many foods taste better, from cakes to cinnamon rolls. You need a tasty cream cheese recipe to level up all your desserts.

Plus, this recipe is so easy to make. You can make it in 5 minutes with 5 simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Cream cheese: Use full-fat cream cheese to make this icing. Let it sit at room temperature before making the glaze.
  • Unsalted butter: Use salted or unsalted butter. Make sure it’s at room temperature before making the glaze.
  • Powdered sugar: You may or may not use all of the powdered sugar in the glaze. The exact amount of powdered sugar you use depends on how thick or sweet you want the glaze to be.

How To Make Cream Cheese Glaze

Put the cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl. Mix using a hand mixer until combined.

Add the powdered sugar, vanilla or almond extract. Mix until it is smooth and creamy.

Next, add a tablespoon of milk and mix until combined. Mix in the remaining milk 1 tablespoon at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.

Tips For Making Cream Cheese Glaze

  • Make sure your cream cheese and butter are soft. Take them out of the fridge 30-40 minutes before making the glaze. It will have the perfect creamy consistency.
  • If your frosting is not thin enough and milk and powdered sugar aren’t working, heat it in the microwave in 10-second burst, stirring after each burst until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.

What Can I Use Cream Cheese Glaze For

If I could put this cream cheese on everything, I would. This recipe is just that good. Here are some ways you can use it:

Pound Cake: You can heat it up in the microwave to give it a thinner consistency and then drizzle it over the pound cake (see the tips section above)

Cinnamon Rolls: Add a dash of cinnamon to the glaze and smear it over warm cinnamon rolls so it melts slightly.

Bundt Cake: I used this cream cheese glaze on my almond paste cake recipe, and it took the cake to a whole other level.

Cookies & Muffins: You can use the glaze on icebox cookies or smear it on your favorite muffins.

Waffles: Use it as a topping for snickerdoodle or plain waffles.

Banana Bread: Banana bread and cream cheese glaze go together. This recipe will make your banana bread even more delicious.

How To Store Cream Cheese Glaze

Store the cream cheese glaze in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days. Keep in mind that anything you use the glaze on will not last long at room temperature because of the milk and cream cheese, so you may have to refrigerate the baked goods if you want them to last longer.
