Cheesy garlic bread is one of those recipes that never disappoints, and this version is all about bold garlic flavor and melty cheese. It’s loaded with garlic butter, herbs, and two cheeses that melt into the bread perfectly.

The garlic butter soaks into the bread as it bakes, giving you crispy edges and a soft, cheesy center.

This is the kind of side dish that instantly upgrades any meal. Whether you are serving it with pasta, soup, or a simple salad, it’s a quick side dish everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • French Bread: I used homemade bread for this cheesy garlic bread recipe. You can use store-bought French or Italian bread.
  • Butter: Make sure it’s softened so it mixes easily with the garlic, seasonings, and cheese.
  • Garlic cloves: Fresh garlic adds the best flavor. But you can use store-bought minced garlic or garlic powder.
  • Italian Seasoning: Adds a nice flavor that pairs well with the garlic and cheese.
  • Cheese: I used Parmesan and mozzarella. The Parmesan cheese adds a salty flavor, and the mozzarella cheese melts beautifully.
  • Parsley: I used dried parsley because I didn’t have fresh on hand. Fresh parsley works great if you have it.

Variations/Tips

  • Bread: You can use other breads, such as Italian or sourdough. You can even use hamburger buns or dinner rolls.
  • Cheese: Try other melty cheeses, such as provolone, cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Colby Jack, instead of mozzarella. You use Romano or Asiago cheese for a sharper flavor, rather than Parmesan.
  • Herbs: If you want the cheesy garlic bread to have a stronger herb flavor, add 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped basil or chives.
  • Make‑Ahead: You can assemble the cheesy garlic bread ahead of time and refrigerate it for a few hours. You can bake it about 15-20 minutes before you plan to serve it.
